This concert marks a momentous occasion for Londinium, as we celebrate the launch of our first CD!
The Gluepot Connection, on the SOMM label, features a feast of British choral music by composers who frequented 'The Gluepot', otherwise known as 'The George' pub in Great Portland Street, a cultural hub for many musicians, writers and artists active in the first half of the twentieth century. The disc includes the first ever recordings of works by Alan Rawsthorne and Alan Bush, as well as music by Bax, Delius, Ireland, Lutyens, Moeran, Warlock and Walton.
The concert programme will include highlights from this gorgeous repertoire, and copies of the new disc will be on sale.
We are delighted that the launch will be at St Sepulchre's; not only have we presented so many of our concerts in the church, but it was Sir Henry Wood, who is buried there and commemorated in the Musicians' Chapel, who nick-named the pub 'The Gluepot'!
